Abstract
Tabulated data are presented on dry-matter yield and uptake of N, P and K at 4 growth stages in 14 varieties and hybrids, including 5 tolerant of Striga sp., in trials in 1976-78. The high-yielding varieties CSH1, CSH5 and CSH6 took up more N, P and K and yielded more grain and less fodder than the other varieties. Nutrient uptake in the high-yielding varieties was greatest between panicle initiation and anthesis; in local and Striga-tolerant strains, nutrient uptake was greatest in the vegetative phase
