Abstract
The main objectives of the study are: (1) to estimate the gap between potential and actual farm yield of rabi jowar (sorghum) in the drought-prone area of Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra; (2) to determine the contribution of individual technical factors to the gap between potential yield and actual yield; (3) to study the functional relationships between the test factors and yield of jowar at various levels of adoption of new technology; (4) to study the socioeconomic factors preventing farmers from using new technology. On the basis of the results found, it is recommended that in dryland farming the cultivators should sow the crop in good time and should use sufficient quantities of inputs, especially fertilizers. The necessary credit facilities should be made available to cultivators in the Drought Prone Area Programme area so as to enable them to adopt new technology for jowar cultivation
