Abstract

The percentage of P derived from fertilizer by 5 sorghum cv. at different growth stages increased with increases in rates of applied P2O5 in the range 0-90 kg/ha; hybrid CSH-S derived the highest proportion (41.69%) of its P uptake from fertilizer P. Amount fertilizer P derived from fertilizer by plants at 30 days after sowing (DAS) was higher than at 60 DAS. The percentage utilization of fertilizer P decreased with increases in its rates; it was highest (7.39%) in hybrid CSH-5 and lowest (3.10%) in cv. PJ-8(K). On av., 92% of the total P uptake was contributed by soil P, indicating reduced availability of applied P due to a high P-fixing capacity of the soil. Grain yields increased significantly with 60 kg P2O5 and fodder yields with 90 kg/ha
