Abstract

Texas produces 42 agricultural commodities on a commercial scale with a gross value of $9.2 billion in 1979. An estimated $5.2 billion in value was added or created by farm enterprises. In terms of value added or created, the leading agricultural enterprises were: 1) cattle ($1,603 million), 2) cotton and seed ($1,349 million), 3) sorghum ($418 million), and 4) wheat ($404 million)
