Abstract

Trials were conducted to investigate weed control in sorghum cv. CSH-1 in the 1978 kharif season. The weed flora included Cyperus rotundus, Amaranthus polygamus, Amaranthus viridis and Chenopodium album. Hand weeding, 1 hoeing and 1 weeding, 0.5 kg atrazine/ha applied pre-em. + 0.5 kg 2,4-D post-em. or 0.5 kg simazine/ha applied pre-em. + 0.5 kg 2,4-D post-em. increased grain yields by 97.10, 52.54, 46.34 and 56.00% and fodder yields by 63.26, 33.42, 29.80 and 29.02%, resp., over the control (1.97 t grain/ha and 2.68 t fodder/ha)
