Abstract

Sorghum variety Co21 was grown in a uniform row system with lablab variety Co9, in a uniform row system with five soyabean varieties or in a paired row system with the same five soyabean varieties. Two nitrogen treatments (60 and 80 kg N/ha) were also included in the experiment. Of the soyabean varieties tested, Punjab 1 was the most tolerant of shade, performed well in uniform and paired row systems and gave the highest mean seed and stover yields of 292 kg/ha and 709 kg/ha, respectively. Sorghum straw yield was highest in mixtures with soyabean variety UGM20
