Abstract

In field experiments, utilization of fertilizer P by wheat in rotation with maize, sorghum, cowpea and moong [Vigna radiata] was studied. Grain and straw yield of wheat increased with increases in P rates from 0 to 51 kg/ha. P derived from fertilizer by wheat increased with increasing P rates from 17 to 51 kg/ha, while the utilization of applied P showed a reverse trend. The residual and cumulative residual effect of applied P to wheat was distinct on the following crops resulting in increased yield of each crop with P up to 34 kg/ha. However, 51 kg P/ha showed residual effect on sorghum and moong only
