Abstract
Six varieties were compared, during the Kharif seasons under irrigated conditions, for response to five levels of urea (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg/ha of N). Half of the N was broadcast prior to sowing and the remainder was top-dressed to the knee-high crop. Basal applications of 26 kg P and 42 kg K/ha were given at sowing. Maximum grain yields were given by 150 kg N/ha for all varieties over the two years, but there were big differences between varieties
