Abstract
In trials in 1973-6 under rain-fed conditions, sorghum cv. 302 and hybrid cv. CSH-4 given 100 kg N/ha gave av. grain yields of 2.35 and 2.91 t/ha, resp. Higher yields (2.98 t/ha) were obtained by applying N in 2 equal split dressings at sowing and as a foliar spray at (a) the flower primordial initiation stage than by applying N in 2 equal split dressings at sowing and to the soil at (a) (2.56 t). Yields of 2.51 t/ha with the full N rate applied at sowing were slightly decreased to 2.29-2.42 t/ha when N in 2 split dressings was applied at sowing and as a foliar spray or to the soil at the flowering stage
