Abstract

CSH8R, derived from 36A, with male sterility, and PD3-1-11, is a high yielding variety which matures in 110-115 days. It has semidrooping leaves and compact, oblong panicles with large, purple-glumed pearly grains. In yield trials in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andra Pradesh, India, it has given higher yields of grain and fodder than CSH1. It has grain quality equal to that of Maldandi 35-1 and is resistant to lodging on soil subject to cracking and to Atherigona varia
