Abstract
In field trials in 1977, (a) number of seeds/ear and (b) percentage seed set in sorghum cv. CSH 8R decreased almost linearly from 528.3 and 88% as the length of time of storage of pollen collected at 0800 h and stored at ambient temp. increased from 0 to 6 h. When pollen collected similarly was stored at 4 deg C and 75% RH, (a) and (b) decreased from 42.5 and 7.1% to 3.2 and 0.5%, resp., as time of storage increased from 24 to 96 h. No seed was set after 96 h of storage. (a) and (b) increased from 49.2 and 8.2% on the 1st day after stigma emergence to 568.0 and 94.7% on the 5th day and declined thereafter to 49.0 and 8.2% on the 10th day
