Abstract

Sorghum hybrids CSH-3 (dwarf) and Kovilpatti Tall (tall) were sown under irrigated conditions on a black clay loam soil at densities of (a) 33 000 or (b) 267 000/ha as rectangular, square or triangular spacings in the summer of 1973. CSH-3 outyielded Kovilpatti Tall in all treatments. CSH-3 yielded 9.81 and 7.3 t grain/ha at (b) and (a), resp. whereas Kovilpatti Tall yielded 5.87 and 4.99 t/ha, resp. Rectangular spacing gave higher yields than other geometries with Kovilpatti Tall, but yield of CSH-3 was unaffected by sowing pattern
