Abstract

The conversion of alternate inter-row spaces into shallow furrows 1 month after sowing sorghum in the kharif [monsoon] season of 1977 (a yr of low rainfall) increased grain yield by 15% by increasing rain water retention. Yield was increased 15-25% with application of 1-2 cm runoff water as a supplemental irrigation during a drought period at the flowering-early milk stage
