Abstract
In field trials on a shallow red soil of Bhavanisagar, sorghum cv. CSH5 given combinations of 0-200 kg N + 0-39 kg P + 0-48 kg K; 50% N + 100% P and K were applied at sowing and the remaining N 30 days later. K had no significant effect on grain yields. Grain yields increased significantly with increase in N rate (max. yields were obtained with 176-185 kg N/ha and opt. yields with 163-171 kg N and with increase in P rate (max. yields were obtained with 22.9-24.0 kg P/ha and opt. yields with 19.0-19.6 kg P). Economic rates of fertilizer application were also calculated
