Abstract
Among plants in the F3 from 3660B X 2219B, a sterile variant in which the gynecium of each spikelet was replaced by several empty glumes was observed. Three heads with similar characteristics were also obtained in the ratoon crop of this plant. The variant was considered to result from a spontaneous mutation in the F2 generation
