Abstract
The food Intake of a large population of India's citizenry- - especially those persons belonging to the low socioeconomic groups--is inadequate in many nutrients. This deficiency causes overt-clinical diseases. The subject is important and bears repetition. The most comnon and widespread deficiency is in number of calories, which indirectly indicates deficiency of food. The calorie intake of a vast majority of the population is about 25 to 30 percent less than is recommended...
