Abstract
In slow rusting cultivars of Pennisetum americanum inoculated with P. penniseti [P. substriata var. penicillariae] the incubation period was 9 d compared with 6-7 d in fast-rusting lines. The latent period was longer (13-14 d compared with 9-10 d). The number and size of uredinia and urediospore production were less in most of the cultivars that rusted slowly
