Abstract

Rainfed trials during the rainy seasons of 1979-80 to determine the most effective method of weed control in hybrid Pennisetum americanum revealed that 0.25-0.5 kg atrazine/ha pre-em. with and without hoeing at 6 weeks after sowing, 2 weedings with and without 2 hoeings and hand weeding twice at 3 and 6 weeks after sowing were the most efficient treatments in decreasing weed infestation and increasing the grain yield significantly over the unweeded control
