Abstract

The effect of hydroprene on pupal-web formation in Corcyra cephalonica (Stnt.) was studied in the laboratory in India. The juvenoid was applied topically to 3rd- and final-instar larvae at 1, 10 and 100 mu g/larva. Most of the treated larvae spun saliva-nettings to form nests; those that failed to form such nests eventually died. The effect of the juvenoid was dependent on dosage only in the 3rd instar; excess juvenile hormone in these larvae induced unidirectional juvenoid effects according to dosage by disrupting the next metamorphic stage
