Abstract

Rice, sorghum, groundnuts, cotton, jute, chickpea and pigeonpea cv. were grown in complete nutrient sol. and later subjected to Fe stress. The Fe stress tolerance mechanism was identified in a number of cv. but there were differences in the mode of reducing pH of the rooting medium. Some cotton cv. were able to reduce the pH of the rooting medium; none of these cv. developed chlorosis
