Abstract

In trials in 1976-8, sorghum hybrid CSH-1 grown in a clay soil was given the recommended fertilizer rate of (a) 75 kg N + 50 kg P2O5 + 37.5 kg K2O/ha, (b) half the NPK rate as in (a), (c) carbofuran as 3% Furadan at 15 kg/ha, (d) as (a) + (c) and (e) as (b) + (c) or (f) no NPK or carbofuran. Treatments (a), (b), (c), (d), (e) and (f) gave grain yields of 3.52, 3, 2.61, 4.09, 3.49 and 2.5 t/ha, resp. A similar trend was observed in the uptake of N, P and K.
