Abstract

The effect of aqueous extracts of the seeds, leaves and bulbs of Urgenia indica was studied on the seed germination of 4 associated crops (maize, sorghum, moong (Phaseolus mungo [=Vigna radiata]) and pigeon pea). The concn. of inhibitory substances was highest in the bulbs, followed by the seeds and the leaves in that order. The vegetative phase of the bulbs contained the highest concn. of inhibitor.
