Abstract

The paper reports the experience of students and faculty at Cornell University on a new course/seminar, "Farming Systems Research in Developing Countries", first offered in the 1980 autumn semester. The programme for a preliminary workshop is described (emphasizing the search for a definition of farming systems research and the methodological benefits and constraints of this research mode). Course descriptions and evaluations for the 1980 and 1981 courses are provided, and a substantial bibliography (pp. 73-92) of reference materials for a course in farming systems research concludes the paper
