Abstract

An attempt was made to study the biochemical factors imparting rust resistance in soybean genotypes at 45 and 75 days after sowing (DAS). The resistant genotypes had more (21.25 and 32.19% at 45 and 75 DAS, respectively) of total phenols than susceptible genotypes. Total sugar content was 1.5 and 14.42 per cent more in resistant genotypes compared to susceptible genotypes at 45 and 75 DAS, respectively. Similarly, total chlorophyll content in resistant genotypes at 45 DAS was 10.75 per cent more than susceptible genotypes. At 75 DAS, 15.33 per cent more of totalchlorophyll was recorded in resistant genotypes compared to susceptible genotypes
