Abstract

An economic study showed that reducing nitrogen rates throughout the USA to 100 pounds per acre (112 kg/ha) on corn, sorghum, and wheat would require a very minor increase in acreage to meet either low or high export demands. However, if export demands are high and the nitrogen limit is set at 50 pounds per acre (56 kg/ha), then 16% more land would be required than when there are no limits on fertilizer use
