Abstract

The three day workshop was designed to bring together knowledgeable people from among the Cornell faculty, other US universities and public and private organizations (CIMMYT, USDA, National Academy of Science's, IFPRI, FAO, Rockefeller and Ford Foundations etc) to have an informed discussion on current developments in China, with particular reference to Chinese agricultural and rural development. The summary report of the proceedings, prepared jointly by the chairman and rapporteur of each of six sessions (economic strategy-general; economic strategy-agricultural; rural organization; science and technology; agricultural trade; technical co-operation) is presented in this publication. Lists of participants, papers prepared and a copy of the programme are included
