Abstract

Alumina, activated as described, can be used in the chromatographic analysis of the carotenoids of the mago furit; it effects the separation of four distinct pigments in the fruit. Data for the varietites of fruit are recorded. As mangoes ripen the total carotenoid content and that of the individual pigments rise rapidly to a maximum and then fall later.
