Abstract
Among the different emulsifiable concentrations and dusts evaluated for their efficacy against pod borer, Helicoverpa
armigera(Hubner), in rainfed chickpea ecosystem. Chlorpyriphos 20EC @ 250 g a.i./ha was found to be highly effective compared to other insecticides in reducing pod damage and recorded significantly higher good pods per plant and grain yield. The commonly used dust fenvalerate 0.4D @ 100 g a.i./ha recorded lower grain yield. The results on the cost economics of different insecticids revealed that, in general EC formulations recorded highest net profit and C.B. ratio compared to dusts.
The highest net profit of Rs.13175.5 per ha and Benefit Cost ratio of 4.23, was recorded from chlorpyriphos 20 EC@ 250 g a.i./ha compared to other insecticides
