Abstract

Seed drill is the machine which is used for metering of seeds in the soil. The metering mechanism is heart of any sowing machine, but some mechanical forces will act during metering of seed which may cause seed damage which is indirectly affect the yield. Bio-fertilizer which is used in pulse crop to enhance the yield of pulse crop. The Rhizobium inoculants were used for chickpea coating. To test the visible and invisible seed damage different metering mechanisms made up of different materials i.e.nylon, wooden and mild steel were used. These metering mechanisms were tested in testing laboratory on sticky belt method. These metering rollers were tested for both uncoated and coated chickpea seed. For uncoated seed average seed damage in nylon, wooden and mild steel rollers were 6.16, 7.28 and 12.30% respectively. For coated seed average seed damage in nylon, wooden and mild steel rollers were 7.56, 8.38 and 13.98% respectively.
