Abstract

In a field trial sorghum cv. DeKalb BR63 was sown in a Coto clay and given 56, 112, 168, 224 or 280 kg N/ha in 1 or 2 applications. Grain yield significantly increased with the 1st increment of N application from 4.5 to 6.25 t/ha, but did not significantly increase with further increases in N rate. Leaf N content increased with increasing N application. Leaf N content and grain CP content were higher with split application of N than when it was applied in one dose
