Abstract

In plot trials with grain sorghum 9 organic manures were compared with 40 kg N as ammonium sulphate/ha. Grain yield without N was 1.41 t/ha, while ammonium sulphate gave 2.71 t/ha and the highest yields with organic manures were 2.58 t with 0.2 t cotton waste/ha and 2.43 t/ha with 0.22 t wool waste/ha. The highest uptake of N was 57.1 kg/ha with ammonium sulphate, followed by 54.3 kg with cotton waste and 51.9 kg with wool waste. Uptake of P and K were highest with compost
