Abstract

The intercropping of sorghum and Vigna radiata in alternate double rows in the interspaces (120 cm apart) of single or paired rows of castor decreased castor seed yield by c. 50% (from 1.18 t/ha in pure stands to 0.49 t), but the loss in castor yield was more than compensated for by the additional yield of the intercrops
