Abstract

From calculations based on climatic data, crop duration, sowing date and crop growth at Parbhani, consumptive use of water was predicted as 206.5, 229.6, 322.3, 342.0, 348.1, 352.4, 367.9, 467.2 and 837.3 mm for Vigna radiata, potato, wheat, groundnut (wet season), sorghum (dry season), soyabean, sorghum (wet season), rice (wet season) and cotton, resp. Recommended sowing dates for the wet and dry seasons are 10 July and 16 Oct., resp. and suggested rotations include V. radiata/sorghum (dry season), groundnut or soyabean/wheat, sorghum (wet season)/V. radiata, rice/potato, potato/cauliflower or cotton (wet and dry seasons)
