Abstract
The local Rajasthan varieties Vallabh Nagar Local (VNL) and Merta Local (ML) and two high-yielding varieties from foreign X Indian crosses, CSV3 and CSV6, were used to make the crosses CSV6 X CSV3, CSV6 X VNL and VNL X ML. Data on dry matter accumulation obtained in the P1, P2, F1 and F2 of all crosses indicated that CSV3, CSV6 and the hybrids from crosses between them were the most efficient with respect to carbohydrate production and distribution during grain filling. Heterosis was observed for leaf weight and stem weight in VNL X ML and for panicle weight in CSV6 X CSV3 and CSV6 X VNL
