Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during 2002 and 2003, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, to evaluate the effect of Pseudomonas fluorescence, applied alone or in combination with tryptophan and farmyard manure (FYM), on the incidence of stem rot disease (Sclerotium rolfsii [Corticium rolfsii]) and yield of groundnut. Stem rot incidence was significantly lower in all P. fluorescens treatments compared with control plots. The lowest stem rot incidence and the highest yields were recorded in treatments with P. fluorescens in combination with tryptophan and FYM.
