The range of variation encountered in Sorghum bicolor in botanical characters, including morphology, physiology, grain size, seedling emergence, growth period, height, grain colour and juice characteristics, is surveyed briefly. Details are given of the system used to produce hybrids, utilizing cytoplasmic male sterility
