Abstract

Shoots of dark and light grown seedlings of dwarf, normal and tall sorghum plants were analysed for growth, peroxidase, IAA1) oxidase and ascorbate turnover rate. The manifestation of dwarfism with respect to these parameters except ascorbic acid, was more clear in light than in dark i.e., the activity of IAA oxidase, peroxidase and ascorbic acid utilizing enzymes (collectively as AAU) remained at a remarkably higher level in tall, intermediate in normal and considerably lower level in dwarf shoots. The role of these parameters in relation to physiology of dwarfism is discussed
