Abstract

ABA, phaseic acid, dihydrophaseic acid and IAA contents in leaf extracts of sorghum were purified in 37- to 75- mu m diam. octadecylsilica columns and analysed with microoctadecylsilica columns, both used in the reverse phase mode. The efficiency and resolution of the microcolumn combined with high sensitivity of the UV absorption microcell detector could accurately determine as little as 2 ng of ABA and 6 ng of IAA. The method was considered to be suitable for routine analysis of growth regulator contents in moderately large numbers of plant extracts
