Abstract

2 non-photosynthetic photoreceptors (phytochrome and a blue light photoreceptor) were found to be involved in light-mediated anthocyanin synthesis in the mesocotyl of sorghum cv. Weider seedlings. Data indicated that phytochrome (Pfr) could only act once a blue light effect had occurred, but the blue light effect could not express itself without Pfr. Blue light could be replaced by UV light, but it was not clear whether the same photoreceptor was involved
