Abstract
The material studied comprised three homozygous tetraploid forms and eight diploid inbred lines. Diploid pollen from the tetraploids showed slower pollen tube growth in vivo and in vitro than haploid pollen from the diploids. Pollen tube growth in vivo of each type of pollen was unaffected by the ploidy of the silk
