Abstract

The sample is extracted with 62.5% methanol in a culture tube and sugars are estimated by the phenol-H2SO4 technique. Starch in the residue is digested with amyloglucosidase and glucose is estimated enzymically. In an acid digest of plant tissue N is estimated by the phenol-hypochlorite reaction and P after reduction of phosphomolybdic acid
