Abstract

The proportions of amylose to amylopectin in the starch of leaves of timothy and sorghum were similar to those of 20:80 found in the starch of seeds and tubers. In lucerne leaflets with increasing total non-structural carbohydrate content, the ratio of amylose to amylopectin increased from 2:98 to 21:79, the wavelength of maximum absorption of the complex solubilized in iodine-hot-water increased from 580 to 605 nm and the starch content increased from 6 to 37%
