Abstract

The effectiveness of sprays containing 10 different insecticides or insecticide mixtures in controlling Haplothrips ganglbaueri Schmutz on Sudan grass (Sorghum vulgare var. sudanensis (S. sudanense)) in the Indian State of Haryana was compared in field tests in April-May 1974. All proved better than no treatment and gave the best results on the first day after application. Tetrachlorvinphos at 0.075% and endosulfan at 0.15% consistently gave the best results, but fenitrothion at 0.05% was almost equally effective and is recommended for practical control as being more easily obtainable than the first product and less costly than the second
