Abstract
Field-plot tests were carried out in New Delhi, India, in 1967-70 on the effect of soil applications of granules containing phorate or disulfoton on oviposition by Atherigona soccata Rond. on sorghum seedlings (of the hybrid CSH-1). Oviposition was significantly higher on seedlings in plots treated with either insecticide than on those in untreated plots; there was no difference between the 2 treatments. Vigorous growth and dark green coloration of treated seedlings (determined by chlorophyll and carotenoid contents of leaves) may have been the reason for high oviposition
