Abstract

Field-plot tests were carried out in India during October 1971 to determine the effect of inorganic fertilisers (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, alone or in combination) on the effectiveness of phorate applied at a rate of 3 kg toxicant/ha to the seed furrow before sowing for the control of Atherigona soccata Rond. (varia var. soccata) on sorghum. The application of a mixture containing phorate and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilisers resulted in fewer dead-hearts 19 days after sowing than did application of phorate alone or mixtures with any of the other fertiliser combinations
