Abstract

The male moths were active from July to November and attained four peak levels with three oviposition peaks with highest moth catch and oviposition in 42nd and 36th standard week during 2003 and 2004, respectively. Maximum temperature and bright sunshine had significant positive while wind speed and minimum temperature had significant negative association with male moth catches in pheromone trap. Rainfall exhibited significant negative association with male moth catches in pheromone trap and oviposition on groundnut foliage during both the years. The values of coefficient of determination (R2) indicated that various weather parameters caused significant variation (55.1 and 55.0% and 55.2 and 58.4%) in S. litura male moth catches and oviposition during 2003 and 2004, respectively, in groundnut.
