Abstract

In pot trials with 2 soils given a basal dressing of NK, application of 61.7 kg P2O5/ha in 6 forms to the maize double hybrid Deccan increased grain yields from 7.1 g/pot without P to 8.9-19.9 g/pot in calcareous soil and from 9.1 to 10.9-21.9 g/pot in non-calcareous soil. Application of 49.4 kg P2O5/ha to sorghum hybrid CSH-1 increased grain yields from 2.7 to 4.7-7.3 g/pot in calcareous soil and from 2.8 to 5.4-8.7 g/pot in non-calcareous soil. Application of P as superphosphate gave the highest yield increases.
