Abstract

The performance of the hybrids CSH1, CSH2, CSH3, PSH2 and 2077A X CS3541 and of the variety Swarn was compared with that of the local variety Co19 under five levels of nitrogen over two years. There were no significant differences in yield among the hybrids, all of which gave higher grain yields than Swarna or Co19. However, Co19 gave the highest straw yield. A level of 50 kg N/ha appeared to be optimum for grain production.
