Abstract

In view of difficulties in controlling Atherigona on sorghum in Uganda, 50 males and 125 females were collected for identification. In addition to A. soccata Rond. (varia soccata [cf. RAE/A 62, 1047, 1048]), single males of A. campestris Deeming, A. gilvifolia Emd., A. tomentigera Emd. and a species believed to be A. secrecauda Seguy and females of an unidentified species were found. It is thus possible that the variable results obtained in control are due to the presence of more than one species
