Abstract

The disease was noted on sweet sorghum in Texas, La. and Miss. and later on sugarcane in Miss. An abundant ooze on the undersides of the spots indicated bacterial disease and a Pseudomonas sp. was found to be the cause. Although no sugarcane var. showed visible loss from the disease, none of the several thousand commercial and unreleased vars. at Meridian were completely free from it
